Research in the Ciftci Lab is focused on developing novel green approaches to enhancing the health benefits and quality of the food lipids. To achieve this, we are using approaches based on nanoscale science and engineering, and supercritical fluid technology. We are also interested in the fundamentals associated with the novel process development. Our research is focused on two key areas:

  • Lipid particle formation
  • Green extraction of bioactive lipids

Dr. Ciftci has been tenured and promoted to Associate Professor.

Felipe and Jessica’s project entitled “Development of a processing method to obtain high-value products from sorghum and corn distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS)” has been selected to receive the 2019 Distillers Grains Technology Council (DGTC) Graduate Student Research Scholarship!                            

Jessica won the 2019 AOCS Honored Student Award. Congrats Jessica!

Jessica won the 1st place at the IFT18 Student Research Paper Oral Competition. Congrats Jessica!              

Ali won the 1st place at the IFT18 Student Research Paper Poster Competition. Congrats Ali!

Josh's paper has been published in the  Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society.                                

Ali's paper has been published in the  Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.                             

Liyang's paper has been published in the  Journal of Supercritical Fluids.
